YES Bhutan celebrate International Youth Day
To commemorate International Youth Day on 12th August, 2005 YES Bhutan organized the following activities to hunt the hidden talents of the youth and recognize to the nation and international as a whole what youth of Bhutan can do if they are given an opportunity. More than 300 youths within the local community and from the border (India) participated in one day programme on the following Topics.
1. Category I – Recitation (Poem, story etc) Age: 7 to 12 years
2. Category I-Painting ( How your painting can make the community laugh) Age: 7 to 12 years
3. Category II-Recitation (Poem) Age:13 to 16 years
4. Category II- Painting and Drawing ( How can you develop your town) Age: 13 to 16 years.
5. Category III- Recitation (Poem) Age: 17 to 24 years
6. Category III- Painting and Drawing ( How can you make your community green and clean) Age: 17 to 24 years.
7. Category III-Embroidery Exhibition , Age: 17 to 24 Years
8. Category III-Science Exhibition , Age: 17 to 24 years
9. Category III- Youth and Nature Exhibition, Age: 17 to 24 years
Objectives:
v Hunt the hidden talents of the youth
v Promote the skills of stitching
v Encourage awareness campaign
v Improve proper colour combination for the attractive works
v Develop Creativity
v Contribute positively to the community and to the conservation of the nature
v Mould pupils hobbies to spend their leisure
v Impart wholesome education
v To create interest among the youth and gain self-confidence and self experience
v Inculcate diginity of labour and thereby make them responsible citizens for the future
v Influence the society in environmental education
v Coordinate infusion of environmental education to the school curriculum.
v To explain their works to the public with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm.
v Learn and appreciate the work of the youth to make their ways and choice.
Work of a Youth
The work of the youth will be displayed on all the occasion to the general public. The beautiful items they had made with their talent of embroidery like table cloth, hankies, pillow cases, bed sheet etc) and the beautiful drawing and painting will be quoted price and sold during the special occasion. To make the youth realize and know the important of his/her work and value of it.
During the one day programme the public and the parents of the youth appreciated the children and their work. Like Chemical Volcano-Blasting, Chemical Experiments, models, working models in the science Exhibition. They had seen the rock garden, Garbage Pit and also the “Voice of a Youth” to their parents about the Drug, Environment and HIV/AIDS.
